Melissa’s former crush Jeff is happy to be on tv, but he isn’t quite sure why he’s here. He figures out that she’s never had a boyfriend and she feels him out to find out why he kept suggesting they go out for drinks but never did.
Luckily, Melissa accepts he’s not interested and says she knows better than to waste her time with someone who might be able to give her the vagina tingles but won’t be getting any ball buzz in return. Surprisingly, Melissa admits to Jeff that she was seeing a nice guy and made a mistake by giving him the boot, but that she’s trying to get him back. Steve is pleased with her ability to be straight forward and actually prevent an awkward situation.
Sadly, Steve tells her no one is coming for her, since the only men she’s ever known have felt so chewed up and spit out by her that none of them wanted to come. He can only suggest she go in the house and join the others.
Danielle is talking to Kevin, her baby’s daddy. It actually turns out that he’s cute and sweet. He asks her direct questions without any judgement and she’s honest about looking for a serious relationship. He’s happy to hear it, since whoever she’s with will be around their son. The conversation is going really well, but it seems like it might be confusing Danielle. This apparently is not the Kevin she knew a few years ago. They both rejoice that they appear to have matured.
And now, of course, it’s time to turn the screw a little tighter and add our Tough Love Lab Experiments to the mix. First to arrive and find his girl is Aubrey.
I can already feel the testosterone levels rising in the house as Carl enters the picture; chest puffed out. He seems to already know that Elizabeth is being wound back up into an old ball of dysfunction.
Carl finds Liz and Paul on the terrace and Paul introduces himself as Liz’s ex of many years. Carl is not impressed.
She says she can’t handle the pressure and tries to run away. Except both men follow her. Then Carl requests that Paul give him a minute alone with Elizabeth. Paul reluctantly agrees.
Carl seems to have recognized that Liz needed to compose herself, so he’s sitting with her and they are discussing Paul. He understands her pressure and seems to be able to relate as he was with his ex for five years as well. Liz tells him that Paul has just reappeared behind him.
Seriously, the atmosphere is buzzing with the tension. Paul asks Carl to do him a favor and get lost.
Poor Elizabeth. It’s clear she has no idea how to stand up for herself or how to say no.
