Tough Love NO Recap: Bayou Bellylaughs

Greetings Gasmii!

I really enjoyed this episode of Tough Love New Orleans. Usually, we spend most of our time trying to decode the dysfunction that makes our girls tick and sometimes we cry with them, but never have I had a chance to laugh out loud at their antics before! What a delightful respite from that other horrible show I had to recap (Celebrity Apprentice).

The show picks up with the girls lounging around the house discussing Melissa’s lack of connection with anyone. The girls all feel like she should not be passing up on Chris, but she doesn’t agree. Stephanie nails it on the head when she says that what Melissa wants is a flirty asshole.

You know your life is a mess when this is your matchmaking committee.

What’s even more alarming is that Shalana’s argument as to why Melissa should be with Chris is that he has all his teeth. And we thought Danielle was the one with low standards!

Melissa admits she’s scared and she’s never given anyone a chance to get close to her before. I agree; fear is truly what is keeping her from allowing herself to find a connection with Chris.

Could the vagina quivers be just a myth?

Steve comes on to tell us this week they will be focusing on sense of humor; a very important aspect to any relationship.

But first we must check in to the CSI Tough Love Lab.

Looks like Danielle, Melissa and Donna will all be getting new dates again. Danielle’s date hopefully doesn’t look like a package of rice and since Donna is being set up with an older man, hopefully she won’t experience any more age rejections.

Steve comes on to tell us that the women are going out on dates this evening and he’s going to test their ability to see the funny in a bad situation. His plan is to have a waiter spill a bowl of bouillabaisse into their laps to see what happens.

Donna is up first, waiting for her new date.

She looks really scared.

She comes on to tell us that her stomach was in knots as she waited to meet Chris, but that as soon as she saw his face, she relaxed and felt better. What is it with her and this idea that you can determine a man’s character just by his face?

There are some hot sadistic killers out there, girlfriend!

I can’t believe how much weight you put on the facial structure of a man.

But clearly they are hitting it off right away as he compliments her on her smile and she admires his dimples. All is going great until the waiter makes the big dump. Donna is immediately understanding and consoling to the server.

She handles the situation with class and grace.

Chris seems upset about the situation but Donna actually laughs and says she thinks it’s funny.

Okay, well this part wasn’t her classiest moment.

But when she stands there drenched in sauce and says, “Red’s my color”, she definitely gains big points in my book of best loved ladies in the house.

Elizabeth also climbs in my esteem, (although I adore her already) when she tells the server it’s totally okay and that she can throw the dress in the wash. She gets her just rewards though because Carl comes over to help her clean up.

This is more action than he got during the seduction date.

Danielle is with her new date and they look like they would make a cute couple. They discover they have a lot in common. Things are looking good for Danielle to finally be making a connection with someone.

But karma is a bitch and this server is Uncle Ben’s cousin.

Luscious just got back from a one year backpacking trip around the world with her husband (TVgasm fill-in specialist, The Professor). She spends her days writing, knitting and sewing. She's only good at one of those hobbies, not saying which.  Her secret dream is to write romance novels and have critics say her brilliance is wasted on such a pointless genre. Also, she'd like to create a pair of pajamas for her niece where the sleeves actually work.

I had to slam my head on the coffee table when Stephanie said she didn’t expect to fall for someone on this show. Sweetie, I love you, but you came on a show hosted by a MATCHMAKER who spends the entire season of said show setting up women with potential partners! Have you not watched the other seasons?!?!?!

I adore all the girls this season. It is so easy for us to sit and (mentally) tell them what they should and shouldn’t be doing, but I know that I really don’t completely understand what they are going through. This group, I think more than any other, has really been open and vulnerable– willing to expose their failings in order to heal.

I want every one to succeed.

But I DO have a couple of faves.

BTW does anybody have inside information about lip augmentation gone wrong? I feel so sorry for lovely Steph, and hope that her lips will somehow deflate. Also, I have seen several poor women with botched lip jobs and I really hope the problem can be fixed. I worry about things like that.

I feel bad for poor Melissa. Its got to be difficult knowing that the guy is nice, but that you’re completely not interested, and having to constantly defend your disinterest to everyone you know. A guy could do everything right, like Chris, and still only give you friendly feelings. And her agreement for another date is like that girl who’s boyfriend proposes in public – she says yes to not embarrass him in front of everyone, but when they get home it may be a different story.

Not sure what Melissa is expecting, but I do know it is never going to happen for her with her attitude. Steve needs to kick her to the curb as she sucks. I thought Donna was going to fail, and look at her turn around.

Danielle, stop the yo-yo behavior. I want to like you.

Snowshoe that is why I love this show. It is positive, up-lifting and helping to those on it and those watching. God did I just type that? I need a drink. Compared to the tearing down on the housewives and other shows, this is a nice change of pace.

    Luscious, thanks for recapping.

Love your post. It’s so nice to read something positive. And the screen-shot of Donna made me laugh. Too funny!

Stephanie kinda pissed me off. She sits there with Good John and he’s all like “ummm you got something to tell me about the other night” so she tells him about her hook up which I applaud her for, but in the next breath she says “so I want a commitment from you right now…” Stephie honey, timing is everything. Is she that clueless and self centered that she feels that in one sentence she can tell him she had her tongue down some douchebag’s throat and in the next say I want a long term promise? Poor guy is still trying to digest the fact that you were acting like some coed on a Girls Gone Wild video, you are not commitment material at the moment… She really had no right to become all hurt and offended. He was right to tell her at the end to stay and finish bootcamp and work on herself. If not she will be a black hole of insecurity that no man can fill.

As stupid as it was for stephanie to ask for a commitment after that, it seemed like she was looking for a change of subject- anything to distract him! She probably could have picked a whole bunch of other topics, the weather maybe??

I thought that neither of them expressed their feelings very well vocally but while they were talking John had his hand either around her back or on her leg so I still have hope for them. It seemed very sweet. Hopefully neither of them f*cks it up.

But I love your recaps Lucious! Thanks!!
