Shifters & Hicks
At the hospital, Andy carries off douche redneck number 1. Luna, meanwhile wants to go all Bush Doctrine on those hicks. (Pre-emptive strike, is what that means. At least she doesn’t pretend it’s about human rights. Or oil.) She actually gets a little crazy and starts talking to herself. And then she starts… melting? No, she starts shifting – into Sam. And I don’t think she did it on purpose.
Luna in Sam, quite freaked out, saunters out of her hospital room, making Kevin more confused than usual. (I think Kevin’s in with the supe-killing hicks, but it’s just a hunch. Maybe he IS just there for semi-retarded comic relief
)
Meanwhile, Jessicas getting all hot and heavy with some new random guy at Fangtasia. Which leads me to believe this is sa setup for her getting killed by Hoyt’s boys.
Yup, I was right. The hicks kidnapped Jessica and took her to their secret clubhouse.
They’re gonna let Hoyt kill her, as a special prize! They even have a special gun – wood bullets with a silver core. Ok, I believe in Hoyt. Plus Jessica is my favorite character, along with Pam, so he BETTER FREAKING NOT! Six bullets… that’s enough for all the hicks in the room! That’s what I say, Hoyt.
To show how much they trust Hoyt, the hicks lock him in the room, and won’t let him out til he kills Jessica. Hoyt turns this into an opportunity to have the Closure Talk. Jessica doesn’t have much to offer. She just stopped loving him, even though she wanted to. Sad, but true, and common.
don’t mind the lack of captions. i just like to put in pictures of jessica.
Hoyt points the gun at Jessica, but doesn’t go through with it. He releases Jess, does a fake shot, and then when the hick comes in Jess snaps his neck. Hoyt leaves to get help.
Back at the police station, Andy’s trying to get info out of Captured Hick: Spill it, or “my taser’s gonna invite your balls to the big dance!” Hick is being uncooperative and claiming he’s a lone gunman. Untillll Sam shifts into a snake to threaten the hick. That works, and he gets all the captive-Jessica info. Unfortunately, Sam and Andy are interrupted by Luna-Sam, who is freakin the eff out! I must say, the actor who plays Sam does a sweet job playing Luna-Sam. He comes across as less gay than just girly. Love it.
Andy and Sam (plus Luna) roll into the cabin and find Jess safe and Hick Reggie dead. Sam and Luna start smelling something weird, then… a fat, woman smoker was in the room. And I think there was ironing board there, too. (My bet? Hoyt’s mom. She’s been provisioning the hicks!) Then Luna starts convulsing, again, and we don’t know why.
If you like it, spread it!:

It was a reference to Elliot Smith because that’s the song they played over the ending credits….I was so confused when that Gotye song came out because “Somebody I Used to Know” is my favorite Elliot Smith song and people kept asking me if I had heard the Gotye version and I was like what, no that’s an Elliot Smith song who the heck are you talking about?? Lol I also never listen to the radio anymore so I was a little behind.
Nice recap, I’m curious when will Tara, Sookie and Lafayette finally meet again and will Tara take any revenge or will they forgive each other?? Yet another storyline from the TB writers that just kind of developed and then died lol
NO PIC of ALCIDE??? OH my G…. Him tossing his wolf lady. Oh Lordy.
i got in trouble for nudity last time! really, you just gotta watch that scene over… and over…
So I can answer some of your questions, Yayyy for HBO GO and my obsession with Twitter!
Luna, like Tommy, is a Skinnwalker, if you remember a Shifter becomes a Skinnwalker by killing a relative. Tommy killed his and Sam’s parents, Luna’s mother died during childbirth. Nevertheless, Shifting into someone else is very painful and very dangerous, you vomit a lot and run a high fever. Luna turned into Sam because Sam told her to sit tight and look pretty. He was in Luna’s head and when she got angry in the bathroom it’s harder to control a Shift so Luna Shifted into Sam. Also, Shifters don’t heal fast so this is affecting Luna’s injuries as well. I’d be surprised if they killed her because they might as well have done it when they shot her in the first place.
I don’t have any answers as far as Don Bartlo goes although I think he was preventing Jesus from being a spirit and being able to talk to Lafayette so that Lafayette would go to Don Bartlo and have his Brujo powers back. I’m glad some plots have finally merged!
I was really hoping the vampire that killed Sookie’s parents would be Bill! It would just be so ironic and so tragic!
The werewolf storyline is about to pick up because Alcide’s father is going to show up! Alcide is going to have to take the pack back from Russell, I mean JD lol! So that’s how those plots will come together.
I don’t think Hoyt’s mama intended to have the hate group kill all Supes. She likes Sam, although she come to think of it she probably doesn’t know Sam is a Shifter.
I’m curious what will happen with Bill going all Sanguinista because in the previews Eric all sensitive and morally asks what will happen to Sookie and then it cut to a scene of Bill and Sookie getting it on, Bill is a tool!
As far as the title of the episode and the music, the Goyte song was originally intended but by the time the episode was going to air the song was super overplayed but they had a back up and that was to use the Elliot Smith song, which worked just a nicely.
And finally to sum up this super long post it should be noted Stephen Moyer made his directorial debut in this episode and he did a fantastic job! Thanks for the recap, though a little Alcide would have be appreciated but I can understand others not wanting to get in trouble at work. I read your recaps on my phone so I avoid that problem ;-P
In the books, there was a werewolf turned vampire, and he was rejected by both groups and killed himself. Weres rejected him because he was no longer able to shift and vamps rejected him because he was originally a were. Kinda sad. Just made me think of that with the comment about Sam and his brother.
And here I figured they had Luna shift into Sam because Sam Trammell is a natural mimic and really funny when he plays other actors playing him. I love him as Tommy as Sam, too.
McWeanis, where’s muh picture of ALCIDE?!?!?!
Seriously, that man tossing her on the bed and going at it was HOT!!! Thank you, DVR! And whoever got you in trouble for good nudity is wrong and needs to be taken to Pam’s dungeon!
This was a really good episode – I loved Russell flirting during the meeting and Salome’s annoyance. I loved Lafayette telling off bitches, and I love Pam and her “mothering” skills.
Can we at least get a picture of Alcide from the top up?!?!?! Yum!
Oh that Sam was hilarious as Luna. Super job!
LOVE U MCWEANIS
