He-He-Hello, Gasmii! With RuPaul’s Drag Uending unceremoniously (Seriously, was I the only one who didn’t know that was the season finale? I was waiting for some super special theme, like disco divas or soap stars and all I got was an adorable little pixie.) It’s time to gear up for the Battle (Latrice?) Royale…and see which queen will reign supreme. Because RuPaul announced the queens who will be on…
Once I got over my devastation that neither Willam nor Jessica Wild (so cute as a boy) will be back, I took comfort in the fact that Phi Phi wouldn’t, either (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! She’s the Rebecca Glasscock!), then set out to assess their chances.
Looking at the list, I broke them down into filler (because someone has to be first out), wild cards (talented but never a judges’ favorite) and contenders (could have/should have won their seasons). Although there’s a rumor out there that All-Stars will follow a duel format instead of the normal single elimination, I’m a creature of habit and decided to rank them in a worst to first list, so let’s do this.
Up first…the filler.
Since no one was too broken up to see her leave her first time around, especially after she wore that “pregnancy” dress to the reunion, complete with umbilical cord which gets points for creativity but loses points for pissing off Ru, I doubt there will be too much crying in our beers when she gets unceremoniously dumped this time around. She has lost a lot of weight, though, and does seem to be focusing more on glamour than being a comic queen, but she doesn’t offer anything that the others offer more of and better.
I love Tammie. Unabashedly love her and told her so when I saw her perform during the Drag Race tour after season 3. Plus unlike the other queens, her makeup was flawless up close. Bitch can paint. And is a sweetheart. And is probably still just a little too weird for Drag Race. Not in an easily understood kind of spooky weird way, but in a performance art, “Am I supposed to laugh at this?” WTF? kind of way. To wit:
Yeah, she’ll be walking those children in nature pretty quickly. Still love her, though.
Unpopular opinion. I never got Yara. She was cute enough in a couple of challenges but always felt like a minor league Nina with only a fraction of Jessica’s adorably wacky charm. But she was the Puerto Rican queen most like the other Puerto Rican queens (Alexis is more of a Florida pageant queen) so she benefited by association. But now she’s going up against the queen of Puerto Rican queens…and my guess is she’ll pale in comparison.
