The Puerto Rican queen to end all Puerto Rican queens. And like Madame LaQueer, also bore a passing resemblance to my Aunt Yolanda in the Oprah challenge. Her makeup is a dream, her androgyny works, she’s a great dancer and still one of my favorites if not my favorite, of all seasons. Still, I think she falls just short of the top three, not because of any weaknesses, but because of their strengths. Although, of the last four, she was the most consistent performer and never ended up in a lip synch, so one bad performance by any of them could push her to the top three.
Bitch finally wore me down. I admit it. I no longer spit after saying her name. I no longer go into rage blackouts wondering why she won’t go away. I have actually come to really and truly appreciate that she is probably the ‘fiercest” queen ever on Drag Race because like with other big cats, I’m generally terrified that she’ll rip me to shreds if I piss her off…or she needs to amuse herself for a few minutes. But I also respect the thought and preparation that goes into her looks. Even that crack-headed harajuku look. Could easily win against anyone in the top four.
PRO-FES-SION-AL. Twenty years in the business really does matter, SHANGELA, and Chad can pull off impressions in her sleep. Easily the most talented queen in the bunch, but was always dogged about not being “vulnerable” (which is such a bullshit critique) and reading as “old” so I’m putting Chad in the bridesmaid column again, but would be happy for her to pull off the win she should have had last time.
So. Damn. Cute. I was a Raja partisan at the time but have come around to thinking kinda maybe they made a mistake. Raja can throw together a fashionable look and work a runway like the rent is due but is probably the one who has “cocktail party” charisma. Which is great in small gatherings but Manila’s bigger personality reads better in clubs and her campiness never feels dated. Por ejemplo:
So she’s my horse in this race. Although I’m not fully committed to it. I’m suggestible and fickle and could (and likely will) change my mind before the premiere.
And just for fun, here’s me and Tammie:
But let me know what you think. Who should have made it in place of Mimi? Are you laughing your ass off that Phi Phi wasn’t cast? What excuse do you think she’s giving for “turning it down?” Look for All-Stars to premiere sometime this October.
