We don't see a recap yet, so we'll save any EPISODE SPOILERS for... after the jump...
Yes, the Romber monster was eliminated in last night's episode. While their leave-taking will make the competition more interesting--and in Rob's case, a lot less annoying--it was still a shock to see the reality pros screw up so powerfully in Argentina and Chile after winning three legs in a row. Of course, the downward slide began in earnest when dummy Rob couldn't spell the word "Philippines" (he added an extra "L" and left out a "P") even though it was literally spelled out for him.
"He wrote out Philippines but that doesn't mean it's his fault," Amber told Harry Smith on the CBS Early Show. "That challenge was all him. I can't blame him. He was definitely in charge for that one."
And since no one watches The Early Show, we'll share some more of the interview with you.
Said Rob: "I messed up. We had just a bunch of things that snowballed in that leg that led to our downfall. You know, that's the way the race is. One little thing can set you up.
"We felt good, we really did. I wouldn't say overconfident. We've been doing this a while, we know how to play it up a little bit. So there was a little of that going on, I think."
Added Amber: "You can't help to be optimistic. You can't help to be really excited about every single leg. When you finish first, you're going to be excited. You're going to feel very highly of yourself."
Most ironically, Rob and Amber lost the final spot in a dash against Mirna and her little-person cousin Charla, after stealing their taxicab and giving bum directions to a clue-box.
Amber: "If they don't know what's coming, it's their own fault. There isn't anywhere in the rules that says you can't lie. They're silly to listen to us. Haven't they watched any show we've been on before? You don't trust Amber and Rob."
The couple said they're living in Florida and that that "a family is in the near future." We suppose we'll all get to watch the birth on TV, too.

I still LOVE Romber....I am so sad to see them gone.
They were the best...I am sure I will get a ton of smack for saying that, but without Rob on the show the excitement will go way down.
I think they truly love and respect one another and I love watching them compete.
Call me Crazy!

Thank the good Lord these asshats are finally off my TV set.
I do not think I have ever seen a bigger set of camera fuckers, and I watch a LOT of reality TV.
Hey Rob, you're a FOUR TIME reality show loser! Take your bloated head off my TV forever, please.
Now that the premier whores are kicked off, we can concentrate on the far more interesting contestants.

i do have to say, i think they do treat each other well in competitions. not the other teams, but each other. while other teams will scream at each other and call each other awful names out of frustration, they seem to be patient and supportive of each other. sort of the same reason that i also don't hate dustin and kandice!

Uh, hello. You'll save the spoilers for after the jump? The f'ing title spoiled it for me! Why would Romber be talking if they weren't eliminated!? I'm pissed...thanks

Ok, but if you watch any sort of reality t.v., you are aware that people don't talk until they are OFF the show. And, how come when I saw the headline, I knew immediately?? It's been a few hours, I'm over it.

Praise the Lord these two crackheads are gone.
I admit, they don't yell at each other like Ms. Bad Accent Herself does to Shorty. However, he seems to have a superiority complex where he gets miffed when Ambuh tells him when he's wrong. I understand disliking being wrong, but seriously, she's your wife, be nice, fuckface.
And don't get me started on that nasty baseball cap he seems to wear on every show. I really hope he gets a new one each time 'cause that thing does not look like it gets washed.
Still rooting for the BQs, JoyChenna, and a little thing for the dummies, Eric and Danielle.

Ok, I forgive you...19 1/2 hours is TOTALLY enough time for me to go to work and come home to watch. (after a Bushtified time change no less)
Look, next time give me 24 and I won't talk shit.

thanks for being cool about it, TB. you catch a lot of shit from people on these boards, but i for one like the gossip tidbits and think your shtick is really good for the 'gasm (though i could go the rest of my life without seeing the terms 'antonella barba' and 'NSFW' anywhere near each other).
i'm also frankly bummed to see the rombers eliminated (though it must have felt like a foot-long line of colombian pure to the rest of the racers). rob and amber give great sound-byte, they inspire rabid competitiveness, and, most of the time, they were just much more competent than the other teams (of course, they got a lot of help--my sister actually knows some people in Ecuador who saw the Rombers on the race, recognized them, and agreed to help them with directions and whatnot).
The up-side is that now the other teams can all stop obessing about rob and amber and concentrate on winning the race.
And kudos to phil and bruckheimer productions for proving that the non-eliminiation rounds really are predetermined. because A-race fans either love romber or love to hate romber, the temptation to spare them must have been strong.

To jack: Word. It was nice to see that TAR really does choose their non-eliminations ahead of time. I've often thought the timing was suspect (not just with Rob and Ambuh, with other teams, too).
However, I take issue with this:
because A-race fans either love romber or love to hate romber, the temptation to spare them must have been strong.
Yeah, not me. I don't love to hate them. I just hate them, and I do not enjoy even slightly looking at that greasy marble-mouthed mook or his mentally challenged doormat of a wife.
The very first time that insufferable goon likened himself to the Godfather, he earned my disdain for life.
I enjoy hating Mirna and Schmirna. I enjoy hating the Guidos. I enjoy hating those two bottled blonde dipshits who claim to be beauty queens. Mr & Mrs Reality Whore can suck it.

I don't think the excitement will really go down. I did not like them but I will admit they were fun to watch and detest.
Romber wasn't on every season of TAR and I have enjoyed them all (except for that season which shall not be named -- but even then I cheered for the siblings and the father with his 3 blonde daughters and detested the overly devout hypoctrites known as the Weavers). I think it is very unfair for people to undermine everyone else that remains. Everyone was cast for a reason and none of them NEED Rob and Amber in order to make for good TV. Aren't we a bit close-minded for thinking this?
The BQs are entertaining and I always enjoy them, their asides and their antics. They are beautiful and intelligent and every-once in a while they remind us that they are indeed blonde. The ChaChaChas are an excellent team and they are just as enjoyable this time around as they were in their previous attempt (what other team has actually EVER gone shopping for their very own benefit while racing?). Teri and Ian are remarkable (elderly)racers and he actually started showing some of his asshole tendencies (which I remembered so well) this past episode. The crazy, bitchy cousins can't be boring.
Romber has had so much face-time this race that it may be hard for some to imagine that others can also be interesting (or even on the show) -- but the show was edited so Rob & Amber heavy because they did make such an early and unexpected departure. That and the fact that they are so polarizing.
Die_media whore -- you are quite enjoyable to read and have some great observations. I will have to defend the target of one of your barbs, though: the BQs aren't "claiming" to be beauty queens. They were. You can attack them by saying they pretend to be wholesome or intelligent or blonde or anything else that is subjective; but smearing them for making an accurate claim isn't good. I've read enough of you to know you are so much better than that. It is like complaining because the Guidos "claim" to be gay.

Eventhough they lost the race, Im still a fan of Rob and Amber. Both are very good strategist. Of course, their strategies are not always good but at least they keep on trying. Too bad they mispelled Philippines. Which ironically, Im from Philippines.Anyways, they exit gracefully on the race. Just what Amber mentioned, at least they exit the race at the end of the world, something like that =)

TWilliams: I think "claiming" to be beauty queens when they actually were means that some people are not agreeing with the claim. It's unjustified. Also, perhaps because they used their looks to advance the last season and believed themselves to be superior to other female teams like the Bama. Did they use their looks in their advantage, I don't know?
