'Idol' tells Rosie to kiss their Antonella

We're so numbed to hearing Rosie O'Donnell blathering like a crazy woman bully on any subject that'll get her in the news, that we didn't think her railings about American Idol being "weightest and racist" were even worth mentioning.

Ah, but the producers of Idol sure did. After Rosie's comments on The View yesterday about the Antonella Barba-Frenchie Davis topless tag team grudge match, they refused to let the show use any Idol clips today.

And when Rosie went off again this morning, Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe decided play Donald Trump, releasing a statement and telling her where to get off:

"Without wishing to add to the obvious self-promotion of Ms. O'Donnell, I feel as though I must refute her absurd and ridiculous claims that American Idol is racist and/or weightist.

"Ms. O'Donnell has, once again, spoken without thought or knowledge.

"Viewers need only look at the show tonight to realize that American Idol constantly confirms to America that talent has nothing to do with weight or color."

A simple parsing of that last sentence reveals that Lythgoe sidestepped the issue, but hey, it sure makes him sound self-righteous and indignant, doesn't it? And how does any of this explain Sanjaya?

(Rosie's already moved on. She recorded a show today in which she talks about all the drugs she takes and upside-down exercises she does to deal with her depression. the show airs Friday.)
