From his peachy-clean, surprisingly zit-free complexion to his handsome, wholesome features and carefully-coiffed Emo hairdo, "Nicholas Zitzmann of Midvale, Utah" sure carried himself like a second-rate actor from the "Napoleon Dynamite wannabe school" (whose directors, producers and star are from... Utah) and an obvious bad actor even before he walked in to face the judges.
A Google search shows that "Nick Zitzmann," the man with the National Lampoon name, has got a virtual trail and the software background he claimed, and as of 10 pm Pacific time, he's got 10 friends and a Zamfir-style panflute song on his MySpace page.
Is he a hipster put-on? Is he for real? Here's what MySpaces' Nick says about himself:
Welcome American Idol viewers. Congratulations on finding the profile of the biggest black hole in Idol history. Before you go and make fun of me, I just wanted to say what the bloody hell that was:
I based my performance around a hybrid of the Righteous Brothers' original song, U2's 1989 cover of the song, and some other things I decided to change (the second "to me" lyric was something I threw in to fill a whole rest in the song).
I did once play guitar in my high school's jazz band, but what they omitted from the broadcast was I was once a professional singer in the Northwest Boychoir.
My biggest regret is I chose the wrong song. I had no idea going into this that the song was Simon's favorite song (Ryan Seacrest told me right before I stepped into the room). If I had to do it over again, I would have probably performed a comedy number instead & tried to make the judges laugh.
Obviously I want to recover from this somehow. Before I went in for my audition I did tell Ryan that I had recorded a few demos. In a (possibly vain) attempt to recover, here's one of them; a lullaby-power-ballad I wrote, recorded, and mixed titled "Sleep Now." Enjoy, and feel free to pass it around for non-commercial purposes.
Now Idol has been "punk'd" in the past. But this one seemed so obvious that the producers surely would have had the time to save themselves the embarrassment. In any case, Nick Zitzmann will either sell a lot of his panflute music or get a lot of backslaps in his local performance artist bar.

Actually, my first reaction to this guy was "Asperger's". Hope I'm not alone in thinking that...

he is not an actor. I went to school with him and have known him for 15 years. He's a nice guy and completly the real deal.
