Sanjaya Malakar's Second Act is well underway now that he's been
"voted off" American Idol (whether due to anti-Asian backlash or whatever strings the producers use to kick out the weak-singing but headline-making contestants at the moment they're ready to switch publicity gears-- see
Antonella Barba-- we'll leave up to the Commenters). He appeared on Leno last night, and there's been big hoopla over People magazine's plans to bring him along to look at President Bush at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday. But the dinner's an annual freak show and Sanjaya's not People's first
Idol guest-- they brought losers Ace Young last year and Constantine Maroulis in 2005.
Sanjaya's dance card is really starting to fill up for next week:
So far, he's set for appearances on Live with Regis and Kelly, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Late Show with David Letterman, where he'll present the Top 10 list on Monday.
He won't be invited to the Idol Gives Back charity show on Wednesday, so he won't be upstaging such great American talent as Sacha Baron Cohen, Helen Mirren, Hugh Grant, Helena Bonham Carter, Keira Knightley and Annie Lennox.
