Thanks, Sanjaya!

We'd predicted he'd be sent home from American Idol the week before the Idol Gives Back charity event (to clear the stage for a new wave of publicity), but Sanjaya Malakar's elimination tonight still came as a shock-- and we're sad to see him go.

And it appears that the Virginia Tech incident had at least something to do with his ouster. Chris Richardson's position in the top three signalled that he surely won sympathy votes and saved himself with his words of encouragement to the survivors. And Simon Cowell's "enough is enough-- it's not funny any more" attitude toward Sanjaya on Tuesday night carried more weight because of the pall the tragedy had cast over the show.

There's also the possibility that the ethnicity of the Virginia Tech killer led to anti-Asian sentiment-- and anti-Sanjaya sentiment.

It's also possible that he deserved to go because of his rotten performance!

We'll hear more about that tomorrow. And we'll be hearing more from Sanjaya. Overall, he proved to be a great entertainer in more ways than one. And after all the conjecture about his villainy, the poor kid cried when he had to go.

Look back at the Sanjaya stories here and wonder how Phil Stacey outlasted him...

You didn't mention the interview with the AR Hippie winner. Is this guy just
why does AI like to feature him so much?

Right, right. He looks so Asian with his DARK skin and NARROW eyelids... Yes, your blog is indeed a reflection of his singing talent. MEDIOCRE

Yeah, 'cause all those Indians and Koreans look alike to us white people....and we're stupid enough to punish an entire race for the action of one.

Oh, wait...we are. But, still, TB...duh!

That is just stupid reasoning.

Holy geez, calm down, people.

To borrow from David Spade: It's called a joke. Look into it.

My poor little papaya is gone. NOW how is this thoroughly retarded show going to entertain me??

If you look on your little map, India is part of continental Asia. Therefore, Indians are considered Asian. TB baby is correct in stating [the theory] of anti-Asian sentiment, geographically speaking. Commenters are incorrect in assuming that Asians and Indians are mutually exclusive, geographically speaking. Although Sanjay is actually of Indian descent (father is Indian) and is American.

OzoneDude:

Don't mess with the tabloid baby. It is not only all-knowing (and not afraid to remind you), it is BFFs with absolutely everyone of any consequence in Hollywood (and not afraid to remind you). This doesn't quite rank up there with the tb's defaming proclamation that the Osbourne kid might have AIDS, but it's pretty damn close.

sanfan:

I am completely dissapointed that Sanjaya has gone home!! Is there any reason to continue to watch the rest of this season? Everyone else is is bo-o-ring. Although Blake is kinda cool.

Also...Tabloid Baby keep up the great work. I like reading your posts alot! Thanks!

Um, I didn't find his theory offensive for the simple fact that he said it was a POSSIBILITY! Do any of you nasty individuals that are hating on him know what POSSIBILITY means? Possibly not. And if you noticed in the first paragraph it was said and i quote "we're sad to see him go". Stop making a mountain out of an ant hill. You haters are about as ridiculous as mainstream media hopping on the "Simon is mean to VA tech" bandwagon. Get a frickin grip. TB said only what some people might actually have considered and done. Including that he might actually have gotten voted off for what Simon said or because of his bad performance. Keep up the good fight TB. And shake dem haters off... by putting up a link to the Sylvan learning center for reading.

Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. I didn't find TB's article offensive, but then there are people here with thinner skin.

There's also the possibility that the ethnicity of the Virginia Tech killer led to anti-Asian sentiment-- and anti-Sanjaya sentiment.

It's also possible that he deserved to go because of his rotten performance!

Read that above two lines again and tell me where it says "I believe that...."

Yeah, didn't think so. Move along, nothing to see here.

Perhaps if the finalists, not to mention the winners, of American Idol weren't always so diverse, TB's statement about racism wouldn't seem so incongruous.

I think a more accurate statement would be that Sanjaya's success--despite his lack of talent--shows a pretty big lack of racism amongst Idol viewers and voters.

**And don't forget, TB is the one who has always emphasized Sanjaya's ethnicity --repeatedly featuring articles about his fan base coming from India.

This is my last time on TVGasm... Tabloid Baby ruined the entire site. It just sucks now. Anonymous OUT!

k, bye.

Might I suggest DON'T READ TB's stuff if you don't like it!? Is it really that difficult to figure out?

It's quite simple. I read all of Flipit's recaps, which bust me up, but I find the sycophantic comments section unbearable. I learned my lesson there after a couple of reads, so I DON'T READ THEM ANYMORE. Are they still there? Probably. Will he post next week about AI, and 18 obsequious little fleas will take up bandwidth to asskiss Flipit, contributing nothing to the overall discussion? I'm sure of it. But at least by not reading it, I don't get an overwhelming urge to defenestrate myself over an internet message board.

(Passive aggressive is the new black).

Synopsis: Douchebag writes ridiculous theory. People respond stating that the douchebag is a douchebag. Other douchebags use improper grammar to suggest reading lessons for the complainers. Random people claim to leave tvgasm for good. Other people argue that morons like to argue over anything. That moron is correct. One more douchebag arrives to write a moronic synopsis. Have a nice weekend. I'm off to lick some windows on the short bus.

#25 -- as for diversity, well, lemme see: white girl, black guy, black girl, white girl, white guy... that's 'diverse' all right...for two races. I don't even need to watch the show to know who's going to win now. Sanjaya was obvious "also-ran other-ethnic diversity" fodder from the start, and he provided the only modicum of interest I had in this show at all. He's gone, so now I'm done.

I am stunned that anyone really cares about this show anymore. Or that anyone was upset about Simon's eye-roll -- I'm sorry, I just don't pay that much attention to the editing, and I'm not an idiot who believes he would actually do that about a national tragedy. Or that anyone else actually believes that their votes pick the winner. Listen to the very careful scripted language used on the show, people: "Your votes count," "your decision matters," "what you say is important..." "America voted, and America said..." They NEVER come out and say a definitive. Because America doesn't. I am certain that the production takes into account whom America likes, but it's all about the entertainment value.

PeaceLoveHerpes -- I love your comment!

All the above being said, I am eagerly looking forward to what will certainly be a great evening of entertainment next Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. ... according to my tickets, that's I'll be in Las Vegas, seeing Spamalot, delighting in the fact that I will completely miss "Idol Gives Back".
