CBS ducks Big Brother's anti-Semitism scandal

If you read Flipit's very funny recap of last night's Big Brother 8, you may have figured that there was no mention of Amber Siyavus Tomcavage's anti-Semitic comments that showed up on the Showtime aftershow feed and all over the Internet (see it here), giving the show some buzz that all the bikini shots and bleeped curse words could not, while finally placing the American version of the show in the same racist/homo-phobic/xeonophobic hate barrel that many of the European versions of BB have become famous for.

And in wake of the Anti-defamation League's condemnation of the network for propagating the anti-Semitic slurs of numbskull reality show players, producer Arnold Shapiro issued a statement explaining why...

Statez the prod:

"Big Brother is a reality show about watching a group of people who have no privacy 24/7-- and seeing every moment of their lives. At times, the Houseguests reveal prejudices and other beliefs that we do not condone. We certainly find the statements made by Amber Siyavus on the live Internet feed to be offensive and they will not be part of any future broadcast on the CBS Television Network.

"Any views or opinions expressed in personal commentary by a Houseguest appearing on Big Brother 8, either on any live feed from the House or the broadcast, are those of the individual(s) speaking and do not represent the views or opinions of CBS or the producers of the program."

The lawyers did a nice job on that one, no? And didn't this week kill the Chenbot's "news cred" for good?
