Thanks, Amber! CBS accused of anti-Semitism

Oy vey! Big Brother is now the Mel Gibson of reality shows, now that the Anti-Defamation League has gotten into the act over one of its contestants' bizarrely stupid anti-Semitic comments.

As you saw over at Clipgasm last night, contestant Amber Siyavus Tomcavage has gone from weeping, palsy-mouth waitress to Jew Hater #1 when she stopped crying long enough to voice some anti-Semitic sentiments in reference to the supposedly Jewish qualities of fellow contestant Eric Stein (who just happens to be America's Player):

"The majority of people I know from New York are Jewish, and the majority of Jewish people I know, my gosh, so many are so selfish. So weird. Even my sister always tells me, she's like my sister, and my mom will meet someone and I'll be like, 'I don't like that person. That person doesn't seem like a very good person to me,' and my mom and sister are like, 'You know why?' Why? 'They're Jewish.' How do you know? 'Amber you can tell by their last name, you can tell by their nose.' I'm like, 'Really?'"

Amber's words didn't appear on the CBS Big Brother show (not yet, anyway), but on the Showtime live feed that captures "unguarded" moments. And that was enough for her to become the latest Youtube sensation.

And this afternoon, it's a major source of tsuris for CBS boss Leslie Moonves-- a Jewish gent who left his wife to marry his employee, the robotic Big Brother hostess-- because

Because the National Director of the Anti-Defamation League, is not blaming poor ignorant Amber for spreading anti-Jew hate. He's blaming Les Moonves!

Sez Abraham Foxman: "It's offensive. It's part of the unintended consequences of the communications revolution. Anybody can say what they do-- but reality shows are now giving license to these expressions of anti-Semitism. Now, all of a sudden the world is privy to their bigotry and its on national television... then enhanced on YouTube.

"What they've done is distributed anti-Semitism-- which started as a private conversation-- and by putting it on a reality tv show broadcast it to the world at large. I want CBS to understand they are facilitating anti-Semitism. They should act responsibly to the community; they are legitimizing bigoted conversation."

We first caught the clip over at Defamer, but RachWho, if you think we're gonna give a Tabloid Baby tip of the hat to that corporate porno gossip website who wrangled Abe's quote, you're meshuggah!
