CBS sings a show tune

paullynde.jpgWhat do you get when you cross the producers of Hairspray with the producers of Queer Eye for The Straight Guy? A CBS network prime time time game show, of course!

We guess Les Moonves and the guys have a lot to sing about, laying out plans not only for Pirate Master, its Survivors-of-The-Caribbean reality show this summer, but game shows hosted by Craig Ferguson (The Wizard-- improv), Chris Kattan (Game Show in My Head-- UK copy) and Drew Carey (Power of 10-- Family Feud rip).

But the cherry on top has got to be Life As A Song, in which people who have major announcements to make or questions to ask get to do so through an elaborate song and dance number.

Each half-hour episode will chronicle the story behind the person doing the singing, and show that person learning how to sing and dance.

The Queer Eye producers came up with the idea and got the Hairspray guys on board, who then called upon other singing and dancing types like including Dean Pitchford who wrote Footloose.

Still not enough to have you tippy-tapping across the linoleum? CBS is also developing remakes of Name That Tune and the Dutch series called The Singing Office.

We bet a Sanjaya and Shyamali variety show can't be far behind.
