"I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more!"
Uhh... one of the problems with Isaiah is that he's been "mad as hell" on the set and people are afraid of, or don't like him. And it turns out, he's madder now, and may sue ABC for firing him after making him jump through hoops with apologies, homophobia rehab public service announcements to atone for calling co-star TR Knight a "faggot" during an onset flip-out last fall and a replay of the dreaded alternative "f-word" at the Golden Globes.
Sez his spokesman:
"If they wanted to fire him, "why didn't they fire him when (the incident) happened? Why did they say, 'Here's what you need to do if you want to come back... ' and then, when he did everything that was asked of him, he still gets fired. Why do you treat somebody like that?"
"If you made a mistake, you acknowledged the mistake, you went into counseling, you met with the groups, you did the PSA, you did everything that was asked of you, and then they still kick you in the gut? How would you feel?"
"There was a discussion and it was agreed upon that this is what needs to be done to come back, and he did everything! And, in fact, we were the ones that pushed for the PSA."
Howard Bragman says it's "premature to speculate" about a lawsuit-- though ABC has the right to not pick up an actor's option for whatever reason-- but he brushed off the idea of Washington returning to Grey's so his character can tie up loose ends for the nice folks who dumped him.
"I certainly can't imagine they would tell him they're not renewing his contract and then ask him to come back and clean things up."
Isaiah should think twice about suing. If ABC has really, as has been leaked, collecting stories about him since High Incident in 1996, they probably have a few good arguments up their collective sleeve.
