T.R. Knight, the softie Dr. O'Malley, became an overnight star in October when he announced his homosexuality, shortly after his Washington allegedly called him a "faggot" during a scuffle on the set. Now sources on the show say that T.R. "is so upset about the situation and so disgusted by how it was all handled," that he's leaving the show.
It was the night the cast won a Golden Globe a couple of weeks back that the whole backstage soap opera blew up again. Washington blurted the slur again while denying he said it in the first place. Knight ran off to The Ellen DeGeneres Show to call him a liar. Washington wound up with his job on the line.
Jeannette Walls over at MSNBC quotes a show insider saying that Knight had been ordered by his bosses to keep quiet about the original incident, and now "feels that the atmosphere there is so toxic and unhealthy... he's planning to leave the show."
Knight's spokesman says the story is "completely, one thousand percent false." An ABC flak tells MSNBC that "rumors of T. R. Knight's departure from the show are irrefutably untrue."
Judging by the history of this overplayed affair, we can assume it's a done deal and T.R. Knight is leaving Grey's Anatomy.

Can this really be happening? How is Washington not being fired? After he denied it RIGHT IN FRONT of Knight. It was the most disrespectful thing i have ever seen. And we are supposed to keep watching this show with bigots being allowed to slander their coworkers? I am boycotting the show until washington is fired.

I didn't have a problem with Washington leaving because Burke is my least favorite character on the show, but not George!
I hope ABC fires Washington because T.R. should not have to leave.

This story has been blown so out of proportion! Washington's a douche for expressing his opinions the way he did, but the ensuing media coverage has made it into a much bigger deal than it originally was. The matter should've been settled privately between Washington and Knight, not in the media between Washington, Knight and the ABC execs. I'm also sick of people saying they'll boycott the show. What good will that do? Drop ratings so ALL the actors lose their jobs? Goooood plan.
