Madeyoulaugh alerted us to David Letterman's confrontation with Fox News blowhard, perverted sexual harasser and former unctuous tabloid television host Bill O'Reilly on Friday night's Late Show. And in case you missed it, Round Two of the Letterman-O'Reilly showdown was as compelling as madeyoulaugh promised, definitely "one for the ages" and, if all is right in the world, "one of those shows that people will be talking about on Monday."
Nikki Finke rightfully calls the segment a "bitch-slapping" of O'Reilly and repeats her praise of Lettermann for having "the brass balls to go where the cowardly White House news corps and corporate suck-up Leno fear to tread: presenting Dubya in all his dumb-ass glory."
It's one of those rare, historic TV moments where people stop being polite and start getting real. And it demonstrates that Letterman, for all his quirks, is one of the medium's great broadcasters.

Makes you realize how much wittier (and intelligent) John Stewart is than David Letterman. Stewart can be funny and ask provoking questions - but he can do it without being mean spirited.

Over the past few years, David Letterman has turned into a self-righteous, liberal,loud mouth jerk. It's sad, too, because he used to be gut-busting funny. This is why I've switched over to Leno on a more regular basis.
By the way, O'Reilly's O'Reilly. He is what he is. Always has been.

Hm, I would've been a helluva lot more impressed with Letterman if he'd mentioned even once Iraqi civilian deaths, an omission made all the more conspicuous given that his main point of contention was the problem of American military deaths (which of course I do agree with). Ultimately it's a pretty safe position to say he was largely in favour of war in Iraq, and now he's against it, whereas Stewart has been against it from the get-go.

God, I'm as liberal as they come, but Letterman comes off as a real douche. Which is impressive, given how douchey O'Reilley is himself.

O'Reilly speaks the truth, but everybody with the blue state of mind are just too ignorant to realize it.
You blow donkey dick Dave, you played into O'Reilly's little media game exactly the way he said you would. And before you go cracking his head, maybe you should watch his program or read his book.
Enough of all these liberal media people who think it is their job to speak on behalf of Americans, I got news for you all, not everybody thinks like Katie Couric and Matt Lauer and these talking heads who with their salaries and contracts, probably vote Republican anyway.
