Nielsen Ratings: Thursday November 30, 2006 -
by madeyoulaugh
SURVIVOR: COOK ISLANDS out rated the competition last night as it fell into the number one slot for the 8 o'clock hour peaking at a whopping 5.8 rating with a 14 share! All but dead is 'TIL DEATH which, despite the humor and charm of Brad Garret can escape the lackluster lameness of Shitbreak. Making SURVIVOR's ratings look like 20 GOOD YEARS was the unstoppable juggernaut GREYS ANATOMY with 9.9 rating and a 23 share! Nearly one out of every four TVs tuned in last night which is an improvement from last weeks stellar performance and fantastic news for the alphabet network. THE OC still continues to struggle in the 9 spot against GREYS, CSI and now SCRUBS, trickling into fourth place with a meek 1.6. This just in, there's some show on ABC called MEN IN TREE'S...and it seems to being doing well.
After the jump, find the complete line up of last nights Nielsen Ratings (18 - 49 demo). . .
How do I read these ratings?
A Nielsen rating may look like this:
8pm - NBC - TVgasm The TV Show - 10.0/18
Focus on the 10.0/18. The RATING, 10.0, on the left represents the actual number of households that watched a show. One rating point equals 1,102,000 households. The SHARE, 18, on the right represents the show's proportion of the total households watching television at that time.
For example, TVgasms TV Show has a 10 rating/18 share. That means 11,020,000 households are tuned in to the show and 18% of all the households with a TV turned on are watching that show.
Ratings and Share are customarily broken down for various DEMOs -- a demographic grouping of viewers, like 18-49 adults or 2-12 children or 18-34 women, etc. Advertisers, and therefore networks, covet the 18-49 adult demo, and so tend to concentrate on that number.

Why do some shows have "(premiere)" after them? I noticed an NBC commercial always called Scrubs "Scrubs premiere" even though everything else in the commercial was new too.

The OC moved from 4th to 3rd!!!!
YESSSSSS!
I have campaigned heavily to all my friends who used to watch the OC but don't anymore. Most of them started watching again, and most of them were pleasantly suprised.
Such a better season!
Long Live the OC!

The OC is still 4th. But I'm loving the new season. It's very light-hearted. I laughed a lot last night.
I'm also happy about 30 Rocks ratings even if it's not that good but at least NBC thought it's good enough since they picked it up for the whole season!
