Dealing out the top spot in the 8pm hour was peacock employee and germaphobe Howie Mandel and the ladies of Deal or No Deal escaping the lead of former break out FOX hit Prison Break, which has stumbled to the number two slot. Saving the day for NBC in the 9 o'clock, HEROES, which promised and delivered once again an ample dose of "ARE YOU F'ING KIDDING ME?!" CSI: MIAMI solved some of the ratings problems for CBS last night and help to secure the number two slot of the night. Despite a less that studious performance by STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP at 10, NBC took the night as the most viewed for the 18-49 demo.

How do I read these ratings?
A Nielsen rating may look like this:
8pm - NBC - TVgasm The TV Show - 10.0/18
Focus on the 10.0/18. The RATING, 10.0, on the left represents the actual number of households that watched a show. One rating point equals 1,102,000 households. The SHARE, 18, on the right represents the show's proportion of the total households watching television at that time.
For example, TVgasms TV Show has a 10 rating/18 share. That means 11,020,000 households are tuned in to the show and 18% of all the households with a TV turned on are watching that show.
Ratings and Share are customarily broken down for various DEMOs -- a demographic grouping of viewers, like 18-49 adults or 2-12 children or 18-34 women, etc. Advertisers, and therefore networks, covet the 18-49 adult demo, and so tend to concentrate on that number.

I can't wait for the Heroes recap to start discussing my disappointment.
"ARE YOU F'ING KIDDING ME?!" is right -- what a handjob of an episode, which they've been hyping for weeks.
I think they lost me last night.

Whoa whoa whoa, are you kidding? Last night was awesome, Heroes is the best show on TV... officially passing Lost in my mind, if only because this 13 week break is totally stupid, and because they killed Eko.

Yeah, but Eko asked to get out of teh show, so you know they didn't want to kill him.

I was so pumped for last night's episode, I could hardly wait to start the tivo.
Then nothing happened. And more nothing. Sure, Jackie got punched (yay) and scalped (yay again, though that's probably evil of me). Sylar was underwhelming. With all the power he's exhibited, it was nonsensical how that whole showdown concluded.
I'm curious, at what point last night were your socks blown off, or even casuallly removed? Legitimately asking, maybe I missed some nuanced development.
Wake me when Hiro's a ninja.

true... but it speaks volumes that with all the polar bears and extra islands and crazy villages and underwater operating rooms on Lost, I'm still more curious about who Eden is ACTUALLY working for/with, and why she's progressively becoming such a vortex of suck... and also, why she wants sooooo bad to be Rachel Bilson... is that just me?

I meant my comments as a positive. last night there were at least 4 ARE YOU F'ING KIDDING ME?! moments on heroes. It's the only show that as soon as it ends, week after week, I am already angry that I have to wait 6 days 23 hours for another dose of the show.

Yeah, I know, my comment was directed at the one above it... and also, I called my friend right after the show and ranted about how this show should be like in the Truman Show, where it has it's own channel and is on ALL THE TIME. So, I'm right there with you.

MalloryS i have to agree with you on the rachel bilson thing. i have only seen the past two episodes and when i watched it monday that was the first thing i thought of when i saw that girl.
