The next night Conan spoke about the fallout from the remark: NBC lawyers told him that if an imaginary web addresss is mentioned on the air, the network must legally buy the rights to the website. So NBC bought ten years of rights to HornyManatee.com. Conan's team quickly threw up a site that included "manatee-on-manatee" action and a live manatee webcam, andon the next show, he solicited "horny manatee" picture and story contributions.
Last night, Conan revealed that he'd inadvertantly created a sensation. In two days, the site had already gotten lots of stories and artwork-- and more than a million hits.
See some of the pictures--and video-- after the jump.
Expect "Horny Manatee" t-shirts and dolls in the NBC Store at 30 Rock... and you can bet there's already talk of a spin-off.
