As 'Lost' returns, Dawson joins priesthood

Lost returns tonight in its new Idol-safe 10 pm slot after a shaky fall season and a chancy hiatus-- and with so many characters and storylines that Naveen Andrews, Jorge Garcia (dig that Hurley doll), Daniel Dae Kim, Terry O'Quinn, Dominic Monaghan and Emilie de Ravin are all missing from tonight's episode.

But Lost is now set to run for 16 weeks straight, so there should be time to get everyone's stories straight.

Meanwhile, Harold Perrineau who sailed away from the series in the Season 2 finale, has landed another supporting gig on a CBS pilot.

On Lost, he was single dad Michael Dawson. This time, Harold will play a priest in Demons. The show centers on a guy named Gus, an ex-Jesuit priest and psychologist who performs exorcisms. Perrineau's character is Gus' pal from the seminary days: confessor, confidante and good friend.

There's been talk about Harold sailing back to Lost, but sources say the two sides couldn't reach an agreement.
