Hasselhoff: The Next Generation

hasselhoff.jpg

No, it's not a picture of David Hasselhoff copping a feel off the Bush twins. It's a proud (if hypnotized) dad with his two teenage daughters. And after a very bizarre year that was topped by his winning for "biggest comeback" at the VH1 Big in '06 Awards, the Hoff has big plans for the Hoffspring.

Which is unusual. Because the last time--the first time, really-- we heard about a Hasselhoff girl was back in September, when a sleazy corporate gossip website rushed out a report that 14-year-old Hayley had attempted suicide by "cutting herself" amid her parents' nasty divorce battle. The site was getting a lot of flak for identifying and stigmatizing a troubled young teen, when her mom came forward to say the story wasn't true. Pamela Bach said Hasselhoff himself had called police and exaggerated the situation to make her look like a bad mother.

This was only weeks after Hasselhoff almost killed himself in a bizarre shaving accident in the UK (where tabloids had supplied regular reports of his alleged drunken antics)-- and was shown weeping when Taylor Hicks won American Idol.

Sounds a family in crisis. So what to do? Ship the girls off to Vegas and give them a reality show!

Hasselhoff has reportedly agreed to let cameras from E! Entertainment follow Hayley and her 16-year-old sister Taylor Ann, while he appears in the Las Vegas production of The Producers. The musical comedy opens next month at the Paris Hotel and Casino, and Hasselhoff, who's big in Germany, will portray Franz Liebkind, the nutty playwright who writes "Springtime for Hitler."

The E! show is being called Hoff Broadway. No details on what the two underage teenage girls will be doing-- sitting backstage doing their homework or bouncing around Las Vegas and getting into trouble like little Paris and Nicoles. The series is being produced by Ryan Seacrest, so at least we can assume the producer won't be hitting on them.
