It's Women's Day at FX

Hey, that Minnie Driver has certainly come into her own in the FX series The Riches, hasn't she? And if each successive episode isn't quite as great as the last, she's bound to get an Emmy nomination at the very least, and today got the ultimate reward as her series was officially renewed for a second season.

Which is impressive news, except that the network said in the same breath that Courtney Cox's Dirt will also come back for a second go-round in 2008.

The network's announcement of premiere date for Glenn Close's legal drama, Damages, is further evidence that the testosterone blast of The Shield and Rescue Me that put FX on the map is giving way to an injection of estrogen.

Damages will premiere July 24th and run Tuesdays at 10 pm. That, of course, is where big tough macho Denis Leary and his Rescue Me firefighters were planted for three seasons.

Denis and the boys get booted to Wednesday at 10 when they return for a fourth season on June 13th. Sorry, guys. Even putative Riches star Eddie Izzard is a cross-dresser.

(Throw in Nip/Tuck, and FX now has six original series in play.)

Holy crap!! That's some marketing campaign they've done to promote it. I've got to go kick my DVR when I get home.
