Making lunch & making love & making do with the in-laws

smiths.jpg"It's about making lunch and making love. " Now that's a pitch line.

It comes from the hard-working couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, who've hit a double the week after returning from the Cruise-Holmes wedding. The team have announced two new comedy projects, one at the CW, and the other at ABC. Neither has a name yet, and aside from the sex and sandwiches, they don't promise any surprises.

The CW project is the one with the lunch-love tag, a single-camera half-hour about dating and child-raising problems among a bunch of desperate, mostly-divorced mothers in an apartment complex. An interesting twist: it's told "from the point of view of a security guard who patrols the area."

The ABC show would be a multicamera comedy, the type with the howling studio audience and mixes in bits and pieces of Smith's and Pinkett's past TV series: a rich black man from a conservative family, his Jewish wife, their twins and mothers-in-law, all under the same roof.

The couple is working on the CW project with Randi Mayem Singer, who created the CW series Jack & Jill, Betsy Borns, who created All of Us with Smith & Pinkett, is running the ABC project.
