Clipgasm: The trailer for Duchovny's TV return

Here's the trailer for Californication, the new series that brings David Duchovny back from his illusions of Hollywood movie grandeur... to television. Or something like television, since Showtime has its own aspirations to climb up to HBO artistic levels.

Amd since Duchovny plays a sex addict writer named "Hank Moody," we'd even guess there's some kind of metaphorical allusionary stuff going on in this "sophisticated comedy" (which in pay cable talk means nudity and sweary words).

In the show, old Hank "struggles to raise his 13-year-old daughter while still carrying a torch for his ex-girlfriend Karen." And as you see from the trailer, there's still room for shaved vagina jokes.

Duchovny's TV retreat reminds us of a cross betwen Mind of The Married Man, that Showtime series with Hank Azaria-- and every other cable series built around an almost leading man.

Californication premieres Monday, August 13, at 10:30.
