Something About Ted Danson

teddanson.jpgYou can't keep that Ted Danson off TV. Now that his most recent little-watched series Help Me Help You has bitten the dust and moved him farther in memory from his glory days on Cheers, Ted's signed on to yet another series-- the new FX legal thriller starring Glenn Close.

The Shatneresque move has Ted playing a corporate litigator-- and though it's a drama series, his character has the very comedic (and Dr. Who-ish) name of Arthur Frobisher.

This will be Ted's first drama series role on cable. But it's not his first drama-- and could even be considered "stunt casting"-- because it reunites Ted and Glenn for the first time in 23 years-- since they starred in one of the most sensational and memorable tabloid TV movies of all time.

Yes, the photo gave it away. It's Something About Amelia, the ABC movie that first aired on January 9th, 1984, with Glenn as the doting wife and Ted playing against type as the husband who's having sex with his teenage daughter (played by Roxana Zal, who became the youngest winner of a prime time Emmy for her role).

(Fun-- or at least as "fun" as this subject can get-- fact: Jane Kaczmarek, later of Malcolm In the Middle, also appeared in Amelia.)
