ABC has been giving a push for a fall series announced as Sam I Am, starring the former Kelly Bundy as Samantha Newly, an amnesiac who can't remember anything about her life. But because the show title draws on the first lines of the classic Dr. Seuss book, Green Eggs & Ham, (as well as evoking memories of I Am Sam, that Sean Penn movie about the mentally retarded guy), ABC has run into clearance issues with the Seuss estate. So instead of ponying up a pile of cash to the people who allowed Mike Myers to play The Cat In The Hat for a show that may not last a month, ABC's changed the name.
Now the show's called Samantha Be Good.
Which means ABC can now expect a call from Chuck Berry's lawyers.
(FUN FACT: Christina Applegate was an original member of The Pussycat Dolls. She was also with River Phoenix when he died, and later reenacted his death scene in an interpretive dance.)
