I personally didn't care too much for the film, aside from watching a rheumatoid ridden Eastwood say, "Fuck me!" most of it is quite forgettable. Now I know what you're thinking, "Just because you didn't like the movie, doesn't mean that I won't!" Well to tell you the truth, you're absolutely right, this is after all just one man's opinion. For all I know you might watch Gran Torino and think that it's the greatest movie of all time. Or you may watch it, and end up hating it even more than I did. So whether you plan to watch it in theaters, or wait for it to come out on DVD, before the opening credits roll, you've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

"but for some reason Gran Torino got more laughs than a Dane Cook film."
and this is surprising because.........?
-- Dane Cook movies - shock - aren't actually funny?
-- you can't have flashes of humour in a drama??
whatevs, man.
I don't mind that you didn't care for the movie, but if you are going to file a review, at least REVIEW the movie (and I don't mean reiterate the whole plot) rather than crap on about what you imagined was written on a toilet wall.
Please be a bit more rigorous in your critical appraisal.
I mean, yes, the dialogue was clunky at times, though I doubt it was ever unintentionally amusing.
The story is strong and interesting and didn't feel like we'd seen it told a million times before.
The various family members were shrewdly observed and the neighbors were all well-delineated.
For me, the best part of this movie is the demonstration that even a bitter and twisted old man with a lifetime of grudges can soften and even ALTER his racist attitudes!
Hence, to me, Gran Torino is a life affirming film with a potent message.
Perhaps it didn't have the kind of ending you might have been craving, but I maintain there is a lot of merit to this movie.
