that Jaime couldn't join us
because it's so late
in her pregnancy.
If you took our lead and logged on to the castmembers' live blog during last night's season finale of NBC's My Name Is Earl, and if you'd hoped to ask Jaime Pressly inside stories about the making of Joe Dirt (one of Tabloid Baby's Top 50 movies of all time), you may have been as disappointed as we were when she didn't turn up!
Well, turns out she had a pretty good excuse. It was even later in her pregnancy than you might think: Jaime gave birth at 7:31 a.m. this morning to a 6 pound, four ounce baby boy.
The birth took place at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles (where Tabloid Baby #1 (see Chapter 40) and #2 stepped into the world. Baby's name is Dezi James. Dad is Jaime's fiancé, Eric Cubich. Jaime is 29. Eric's 33.
Jaime's pregnancy was written into the show, with Joy deciding to have a baby for her half-sister Liberty (this way, the baby's gone after Joy delivers and the writers won't have to plug a new generation of Olsen Twins into the next season).
And adding to the significance of Joe Dirt: Jaime's role as Jill in the underrated classic certainly paved the way for her starmaking turn in Earl
