The closing ceremonies were nice last night, but I personally liked the opening much better. I'm sure it was amazing if you were watching it live in-person, but the "magic" did not come through on my screen like the opening did. Jimmy Page was of course amazing, but did it seem like Leona Lewis was lip-synching?
Anyway, here is the final medal count (top 5 countries) for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games:
USA G:36 Silver:38 Bronze:36 Total:110
CHN G:51 Silver:21 Bronze:28 Total:100
RUS G:23 Silver:21 Bronze:28 Total:72
GBR G:19 Silver:13 Bronze:15 Total:47
AUS G:14 Silver:15 Bronze:17 Total:46

Well of course the rest of the world lists the medal count in gold medal order, so on that basis China comes out on top. In any event, the Games are not about who wins the most medals...allegedly.

I just got the stats from the Olympics website. It's not about who wins the most medals, you're right, but in the spirit of competition it's fun to root for a team.

I am with you on the Ceremony Nads. I awaited the closing with high anticipation after the opening... and was very disappointed.
Maybe it was all the drummers i bike helmets.... {why??}or the bell woman but I didnt care for it.
I said to TheHubby that it looked like they just didn't use the edit button. They threw every possible idea at the wall and it stuck and they never took a single idea back. By the time I saw Jackie Freaking Chan singing..... I completely lost it and screamed.

OMG! I totally forgot about Jackie Chan, LOOOOLLLLLL. You're so right. I was at my mom's house last night and I just remember my little brother saying, "DUDE, is that Jackie Chan?" And it was so well put...
