American Idol Elimination Last Night

american idol

What did you guys think of the American Idol elimination last night?

(read more after the jump **warning** spoiler alert)

scott macintyre eliminated

As inspiring as he was, Scott MacIntyre got the boot last night. I felt bad, but based on Tuesday's performance there was Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta and THEN, there was everyone else. I'm glad that the judges didn't use the save on Scott, but at this point the only people worth saving (if they get the boot) are Danny Gokey, Kris Allen (even though he bugs me, don't ask me why), Allison Iraheta and of course Adam Lambert.

I got on the phone with Scott this morning, so stay tuned for the interview to be posted within a couple of days. However, I did ask him if he was attached to his music he writes or if he's able to write for others and what was next for him...He said, "First of all, I'm a performer and that's probably not going to change, especially after Idol. Secondly, I bring a lot of song writing to the table for myself and I'm completely open to writing for other people. Thirdly, I enjoy production, like mixing and mastering. That's something I see myself doing concurrently for a long time."

I think he'll be just fine.

The remaining 7 contestants are:
1. Kris Allen
2. Anoop Desai
3. Matt Giraud
4. Danny Gokey
5. Allison Iraheta
6. Adam Lambert
7. Lil Rounds

Mr Dangerous:

uh, Thankfully none of the IDOL contestants know what TVGASM is. I can't believe any of them would be interviewed by you if they did.

marksangel:

Wow, Mr. Dangerous - that was unnecessarily harsh.

In any event, I thought the elimination was right on and it was time for Scott to go home. The only other person I felt worthy of elimination was Lil, and she at least made the bottom three. We'll see what next week brings, and if Lil FINALLY goes back to the kind of music that got her here in the first place...

Pegster:

I'm guessing Mr. Dangerous meant that it's lucky they don't know that the 'gasm writers and fans take great joy in poking fun at the contestants!!

itchy:

Nads usually remains above the fray -- she's the 'news' section, not the snark section. And if you read/listen to her interviews, she's always very respectful. Even to people she doesn't like (caw caw!)

Though I wonder if she presents her credentials as coming from TVGasm? :-p

My take on this Idol elimination: this show is really amateurish. You'd think after 8 years, and being the most-watched show in the States, that they'd do a better job at it.

But the format of the show is really stiff, the pacing is ridiculously awkward. The choices made --getting lost in baby photos when they should be showing music-- are just populist drivel. The 'judges' are idiots. The obvious pimping and attempts to manipulate the voters just underscores the show's worthlessness as an sort of true talent search.

Worse, the 'talent' on the show is surprisingly mediocre. The fact that Scott -- who, let's face facts people, CANNOT CARRY A TUNE --can make it this far into the competition pretty much says everything about it.

In fact, at least half of the final 13 have serious singing and performance issues. Even the singers who can sort of sing -- Gokey, Lil, Matt-- are really no better than bedroom singers.

Which all comes through when they finally allow the group sing to be done live-- ouch! These people suck! This show sucks!

Which makes it all the more fun -- and part of the fun is seeing how earnest some people become about the show.

Surely, they too see that the emporer wears no clothes?

Mr Dangerous:

Uh, Markangel:

Have you ever read any of the IDOL recaps and comments? If you had you would know why I wrote that.

Nads is very nice. I'm just surprised any IDOL contestants would be interviewed for this site considering all the unkind things said about the contestants.

PS: Thank you Pegster
