This next season of American Idol is full of changes. First Nigel leaves the show, and now they add Grammy-nominated songwriter, Kara DioGuardi, as a fourth judge for the show's 8th season. I know they're trying to make the show younger, etc, etc, etc...but why bring in a 4th judge? I feel like the show already has it's "groove" and it's certainly not hurting for ratings, so what gives?
I wonder if they're bringing in Kara to phase Paula out? I know that Paula and Kara have good history, but maybe they wanted a less crazy girl-judge? Someone who could at least give "real" criticism? Who really knows?
I'm putting money on a Paula/Kara cat-fight!

How will they make room for more comments? Shorter video vignettes of the contestants' stories? Less cutesy (stilted) banter between the hosts? Limit Randy's name dropping? Or will they just short-change Simon on time, like they've done in the past when the other judges talk too much?

I agree. The whole show is comments by the judges. It's going to be a big judge fest and no talent. They're saying they want to cut out the crap and make it all about the talent this season, but I just don't see that happening when they add a 4th. So weird. I am really curious as to why they did bring in the 4th. I should have asked Randy last week at Dance Crew, but I didn't know about this until now. Grrr. I had nothing to say to him then either...but then again, it's not like he'd give a straight answer with all the publicists around. who really knows.
