Britney Spears' new single, "Womanizer," will have its official television debut on The Hills this Monday. How fitting. Her new album Circus is set to drop on her 27th birthday, Tuesday, December 2nd. I watch The Hills, so I guess I'll be listening to "Womanizer". I'm still skeptical about Brit's comeback. They have her dosage "just" right at this point, but lets just see if she can sustain.

I'm still trying to process how MTV changed the 2008 VMA's to be a Britneyfest all the way around. It's bizarre. Why is MTV suddenly BritneyTV? Isn't she about about 3 years late?

I agree. It's almost like MTV is trying to save her, and boost her self-esteem. But, why??? She's just another performer like everyone else in her category.

I think it's because nobody since Britney -regardless of popularity or hits- has generated so much public fascination which typically translates to $$$$$.
Britney could sell anything and to a very wide audience - from pre-teens to perverts, and MTV wants its cash cow back.
And I'll admit that I'm rootin' for that long-awaited Britney comeback that will knock our socks off. But this too-soon return to music feels almost phony, like MTV commissioned Disney to make a Britney doll that looks and acts just like the Britney of the plaid skirt days.
For her sake, I hope she's into it and ready, but if I see smoke coming out of her ears during a performance, I think I'd feel more relieved than surprised.
