David Cook is going to sing the National Anthem at game three of the NBA Finals. It's so funny because I like sports, and I like basketball, but in my world an Idol winner singing at the game is newsworthy rather than the game itself. Good Luck David!

Sadly, Davey did not do as well as I thought he would. The first couple of notes were kind of rough. It wasn't BAD by any means, but he didn't really seem like himself. It was very tense and he seemed extremely serious - like the exhaustion is taking its toll. Or maybe it was because he was singing the anthem and he was instructed to be serious and just stare at the flag? I don't know. He just didn't seem like himself.

I'm going to agree w/ you on that one georgiababe. He did not seem himself at all and sounded hoarse too. Poor David. He must have been so tired and nervous...Game 3 NBA Finals...big game to open for

I didn't hear his perf, but I'd like to point out (the obvious) -- the Nat Anthem is FIENDISHLY difficult to sing, esp in front of large crowds in an echoey auditorium/stadium, which is why so many people and otherwise good singers mutilate it.

Which was the problem, I think. Because in an interview before he sang, Cook said that he was petrified because, you know, it's the national anthem. Which is why he didn't mess with the arrangment, obviously, and which is probably why he was concentrating so hard. But I think that exhaustion was still part of it.
