Guess who's going to space? Gene Roddenberry (creator of Star Trek) and Majel Barrett Roddenberry's remains are being shipped into space on a "memorial spaceflight". I really think that is the sweetest and coolest thing I've read in a while.
From the release:
"The couple's cremated remains will be sealed into specially made capsules designed to withstand the rigors of space travel. A rocket-launched spacecraft will carry the capsules, along with digitized tributes from fans. The Roddenberrys' remains -- and the spacecraft -- will travel ever deeper into space and will not return to earth"
I certainly hope that the "remains will not return to earth"...It would be like the 2009 reenactment of The Gods Must Be Crazy.
