Hey Gasmii, I had the chance to talk to eliminated American Idol Contestant Alexis Grace after her elimiation...Sucks that she got voted off, but I guess her elimination dispels any rumors of the competition being fixed.
All in all, she did have a good run.
Here's the quickie interview:
Q: Alexis, you had a great run on Idol, what's next for you?
A: I'm going to go back home and spend some time with my family first. And then I'm going to get to work and start talking about recording some music and trying to get it out there and just continue singing.
Q: What's the most important lesson you learned on Idol?
A: I learned that if you want to do anything in life, if you want to pursue a dream, that you have to work hard at it and believe in yourself for one thing and just have fun with whatever it is that you want to do. And remember everything and just the little cliché things that you could say, it's really true.
Q: What was the most challenging thing about being on the show?
A: Probably being away from my family, my daughter especially, that was tough because I went from being a stay at home mom and being with her everyday to not seeing her at all, hardly talking to her. So it was really tough to be away from her
Q: Looking back, would you have still sang Jolene, or would you have done it all differently?
A: I probably would have done better with "Never Loved a Man," the first one that I sang, just because it's more my element and soul and that's what they loved about me. That's what got some attention and I think I would have been able to showcase my voice a lot better on that song, too.
Q: Were you flattered when the judges were considering using the veto rule on you?
A: It was flattering. I was really happy. I just wish that I could have done a better job than I did. But in all honestly, I don't know if they still would have chosen me, just because it's so early in the game. I feel like they would probably want to use the save for later on in the show.
Q: Are you keeping the pink highlights look?
A: Definitely. I might change the pink highlights a little bit, though, and turn them into something else. I'm always into changing up hairstyles and trying new things, but yes, definitely keep the edgy look. I think that's what got me here besides singing, but I think it did help a lot, so definitely.
Q: So sad that you got cut during country week being from Tennessee...
A: It totally is, so I kind of let my state down, you know? I'm from the South and we're supposed to do country well and I think I actually sing country pretty good, so it was a disappointment. I kind of let them down a little bit, but I can redeem myself. I think I'll be able to redeem myself from that.
Q: How did Idol help you as an artist? What will you take away from the experience?
A: I think I'm going to take away a lot from this experience. I know who I am. I know what I want to do, what career path I want to take. It's given me a lot of confidence in myself to go out there and be a singer and pursue it. So it's giving me a lot and I can't wait to see what's next.
