Radar online is reporting that it's going to cost fans $25.00 to attend Michael Jackson's funeral at The Staples Center. The funeral is going to be more of a concert-like event with speakers and videos, rather than a real funeral...and want to know the parting gift for the attendees? A T-shirt that reads, "This Is It".
Wow. I think it's horrible to charge for a funeral, but then again, it is Michael Jackson and it is the Staples Center...and honestly, if I had extra time on my hands, I would pay to go...shoot me for saying that, but I would.
I wonder if his body will be at the event?
**Update** Thanks Tink for the update! Here's a link to the Michael Jackson memorial lottery.

I heard 'no' on the viewing.
I don't see it as paying for a funeral. I believe some video of Michael's final rehearsal will be screened.
Also, who do you think is s'posed to pay for the rental of the venue, staffing etc for all these fans?

They're going with more of a memorial than a funeral or viewing, thank God. I can see women (or men) trying to throw themselves into the casket, under the hearse, etc.
They may have musical performances and eulogies by celebrities as well.
I'll bet they had all those "This is It" t-shirts made already for the concerts and figured they should get some use out of them. (Wasn't that the name of the concert tour? The phrase was behind him when he was rehearsing.) It is a very unfortunate phrase to use at a funeral however, since it tempts one to think those might have been his last words (or thoughts).

According to today's press conference the event will be at no cost to fans and they will provide a live feed for free so that it can be broadcast around the world to all his fans - also for free.
