Oh yes, if you can't beat 'em join 'em Janet. Everyone else is doing reality, why not you too? Janet Jackson has signed on to do a reality series with MTV to mentor a group of aspiring singers and dancers while preparing for her world tour that starts in September. The show is to take place on the streets, and other random locations rather than a sound stage. The prize has yet to be determined, but it could be touring with Janet in September.
The executive producer of the show, Dave Broome said, "It's really about finding who's the next Janet Jackson or Justin Timberlake or Usher...And we'll find it from a pool of people who you wouldn't typically find it from. We'll go to YMCAs, church groups, local community centers and try to cast the show."
From what I gathered from this whole statement is that it's American Idol meets America's Best Dance Crew but on location. Sounds like they want to keep it "street" and "real." I don't know how I feel about this, but then again, she does need to reinvent herself and keep the hype up. The show could be good, if they really stick to their guns to find raw talent in "real" places rather than it being over produced like her wardrobe "malfunction."
