AND her nephew is missing!

And her father is dead as well - he died when she was a teenager.

And she just got engaged...

Poor, poor girl. My heart goes out to her.

Yeah, I heard about this last night, too.

You just know E! News is going to be all over the story this w/end...

Here's the latest:

Chicago police were last night searching for the missing seven-year-old nephew of the Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson and questioning the star's former brother-in-law on suspicion of the double murder of her mother and brother in the family home...

William Balfour, the 27-year-old former husband of Julia Hudson, was taken into custody yesterday, according to local media reports.

So, they got the guy but the boy is still missing?!\

So incredibly tragic.

You know, it's curious how our heart breaks when we hear sad news about a star; someone we feel we "know".

But this kind of tragedy happens to all sorts of people *every single day*. We just don't hear about it as often bc those victims aren't "famous".

When I examined my response to the breaking news, I found this underlying aspect quite interesting.

georgiababe:

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I get really tired of people being like "Ugh, other people died today too!" Well yes, of course they did, but you don't hear about it because they're not famous.

JHud is in the spotlight because of her job and personal information (such as her marital statues, birthdate, place of birth, education, family etc.) are out there for the world to see so yes, there is a sense of "knowing" that star much more than the poor victims of the tsunami.

Donna Martin Graduates!:

^ right. But then again, we lost so many souls that day. I'm still sad about that...
