Kid Nation Premiers Tonight, It Can't Be That Bad For The Kids, Right???

kidnationsweatshop.jpg

Personally, I can't wait to see this show that's built up this much hype. I mean how bad could it be, it's not like they're working in sweat shops for God's sake! I think people have gotten their panties in a bunch and are being so dramatic. The way I envision it, Kid Nation is like summer camp.

People against the show have been saying, "the kids are getting hurt; they're working long hours." I've got news for you critics, kids get hurt, they scrape their knees, they have chores. I'm sick of hearing it. I would never support a show that hurts kids, and do you really think that CBS would even be airing the show if they abused these kids? Kathy Lee is not running this show!

I came across the mother of Sophia, one of the oldest kids on the show and she said, "It's been such a wonderful experience, nobody expected the negative publicity. The kids feel they accomplished great things. We were there for part of the filming of the show. The camaraderie was so moving." I mean, I can see the controversey of what happens behind closed doors, but then again, What happens in Kid Nation, Stays in Kid Nation.

The show airs tonight, September 19th 8PM ET/PT. We'll discuss later. Thoughts anyone?

Just remember this is the crap that has replaced a seriously good show called Jericho. Whether you agree or not. I hope this show fails miserably

Nads:

You have a good point. I don't think Jericho got cancelled b/c of this show, it just took its time slot. But wasn't Jericho brought back b/c of the fans or was that just a nasty rumor?? I know I should know, but I've heard both things. I'll investigate, and keep u posted. For the record, Jericho was a great show.

shawnster:

What I read on the Jericho website was it will replace whichever show fails midseason. They are filming and our Tons of nuts we sent them worked. It just galls me that the time slot they are using is for this crap

Nads:

Hilarious. It's pretty amazing that fans were able to revive this show. Can't say that for Lucky Louie. Although, Jericho is in a way different league then Lucky Louie. If I find out any dirt I'll keep you posted for sure.

Bobbie:

As a teacher of American lit and American life, I am really looking forward to this show for use in my classes--we have this urge toward utopic movements, and Kid Nation will likely shine a light on that phenomenon in a relatively new way. And btw, Jerico is my second favorite show of all times--largely because it, too, pushes the [honorable] American agenda--as opposed to the less honorable one our real-life, 3D citizenry generally adheres to...

krut:

OHMIGOD this was the worst in television last night.

Nads:

Krut, I just watched it on my DVR, it was pretty bad. Leave it to CBS to hype it up. It did win it's time slot, but then again, it was up against, Top Model, and Gossip Girl. Plus, it was the premier episode,so it had that going for it. I'm curious as to how it does next week. The show should be on after Saturday Morning Cartoons, don't you think? Truthfully, I was bored out of my mind!!!! It was like every other reality show, but no one gets voted off. At least get the stakes up, huh?

shawnster:

VINDICATION!

nads:

oh shawnster, lighten up ;-) did you see it? thoughts?

shawnster:

No and I never will. My hope is someday soon reality TV dies the death it needs to.

Nads:

:-) I'm too far gone in this game, I resisted until, I got sucked in. There is no turning back for me now. I still have a healthy balance of reality/scripted...but then again, it depends on the season.
