Nigel Lythgoe Is Done With Idol

Nigel Lythgoe Moving on

Nigel Lythgoe is stepping down as a producer on American Idol for next season. Nigel is apparently negotiating a joint-venture deal with Simon Fuller and 19 Entertainment, and still working on So You Think You Can Dance...so no more time for Idol! I guess A.I. wasn't Sophie's choice.

So American Idol is past its prime. I don't think SYTYCD is looking so healthy for the long-term, either.

Well, about time.

Now maybe they won't make the Idol kids sing songs from 50 years ago. The point has been to create a current recording artist, yet they make them sing hits from the 60s. Flawed logic.

This might be just the makeover that AI needs.
