Last night's Idol elimination was unbelievable!
(click to read about it after the jump)
**Warning Spoiler Alert**
I can't believe they saved Matt Giraud!!! The judges should have saved their "save" until next week. His rendition of Bryan Adams, "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman," sucked on Tuesday, but the judges thought he was worthy of being saved...I suppose he deserved to be saved over Lil???
Matt should count his lucky stars because he's been saved twice now...he was the wild-card and now he's the "save"...he's one lucky contestant.
On a positive note, it was great seeing Jennifer Hudson sing last night. She seemed a little disconnected, but I still lover her. And as for Miley Cyrus...well, let's just say she's not my favorite.
So, we end with the same top 7 as last week (with two people going home next week):
1. Kris Allen
2. Anoop Desai
3. Matt Giraud
4. Danny Gokey
5. Allison Iraheta
6. Adam Lambert
7. Lil Rounds
Thoughts?

Of course they saved Matt. Next week is the last week they could have used the save...and if Matt went home this week, Lil would likely be the lowest vote getter next week. There was no way they would use the save on her.
If they hadn't used the "nifty new save" this week, their new gimmick would have been unused this season.
Besides, this is the part of the season that always has a slight dip in ratings. A double elimination next week will help that situation.

You may not care for Miley but last night, she made a fan out of me. That girl can sing and what stage presence. She is such a professional. She looked so comfortable on stage and was so into the song she was singing. Her performance only highlighted what amateurs the "Idols" are. Yeah so, she posted some slutty pics on myspace, big deal, like you didn't do anything stupid at 15. She is an undeniable talent. I was really blown away by her voice and what a great song!

Miley Cyrus didn't sing a note in tune last night. And I'm not even a Miley hater. I respect her and don't even mind when I catch myself rocking out to her songs. But that performance was brutal last night. Sharp central.
If they want to bill this save as "righting the huge wrong" (a la Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson and Tamyra Gray) they should go a whole season without using it. Let's face it, unless someone besides Lambert and MAYBE Alison got the lowest number of votes, it wouldn't be an outrage.

Great point about the ratings Cattyfan.
I'm glad they saved Matt. Even though he's pretty much Justin Timberlake 2.0, I really like him. He seems more accessible to me somehow. I looove when he goes falsetto. Lil can go...
