Lionsgate Entertainment Corp has officially purchased the TV Guide Network and TVGuide.com for $255 million. I know they've been trying to sell it for years, and now everyone is in the business of buying TVGuide (the last deal announced 2 weeks ago fell through). I guess good for them? One good thing can come out of this for Lionsgate...the can play all their crappy movies after the red carpet shows...it's a win/win.
Disclaimer, the story below may be a waste of your time, but it's about how TV Guide traumatized me as a child:
I have the strangest childhood memory of TV Guide that I will NEVER get out of my head...My aunt showed me a picture of a kid with Dracula fangs in a TV Guide when I was three-years-old and told me that if I kept sucking on my blankie that I would get fangs like the little boy in the TV Guide picture. And guess what? From that night on, I never put my blankie in my mouth out of fear that I would suddenly develop fangs in my sleep. And to this day, whenever someone mentions TV Guide or if I'm flipping through the channels and I come across TV Guide, I always think of that horrifying picture. My aunt's scare tactics worked, and TV Guide was only a mere vehicle, but it made me want to shoot the messenger forever. I ended up having braces for two years, but I guess it could have been a lot worse had I not seen that picture that day.
