Seems more realistic for that show to be set in New York anyway, but it's not a creative move. The Ugly Betty Production is moving to New York due to a huge increase in the amount of a film tax credit (approx 35% refund). The production found out this past Monday that they were moving, and it was very upsetting to a lot of the actors as well as the whole production.

What does that mean for the future production of the show? Unless people are willing to move, Walt Disney Co' ABC Studios is expecting approx. 150 crew members to lose their jobs. So, production people in New York get your resumes together, cuz Ugly Betty is movin' to da city.
