VH1 just picked up a new series called Dad Camp as part of their new "responsible" programming movement. Dad Camp is basically like Tool Academy, but for Dads. Jeff Olde, the head of VH1 programming said that this series was inspired by "President Obama's call in June for fathers to "step up" and take responsibility for their children."
I think Obama's speech was great, but since when has VH1 been on the forefront of being responsible, and promoting accountability? VH1 has been on the forefront of exploiting irresponsible people, and making tons of money off it--and now they want to make a dramatic shift? I think the network needed a shift, but didn't think they'd bring the President into it.
