Sarah Jessica Parker's character on Sex and the City may have been careful about birth control, but the show has spawned a litter of network-- No. Let's try :
ABC and NBC are getting sloppy sec-- Take Four:
While the stars of Sex and the City couldn't get it together to spin the series into a movie, a new batch of network pilots shows that its influence stretches far beyond Entourage!
Four new pilots announced today. All directly descended from HBO's sex comedy.
ABC has ordered up Cashmere Mafia and Women's Murder Club. Mafia is from Sex creator Darren Star, who touts it as "the next generation of Sex and the City." Four female executives in New York City, all friends since college, and the demands of career, family sex, blah blah blah... Sounds about as similar to Sex as he can make it without having to sue himself.
Murder Club is also about four female friends: a homicide detective, a medical examiner, a newspaper reporter and an assistant district attorney. They solve murder cases. Yep, the producers pitched it as "CSI meets Sex and the City."
NBC has a pilot for a dramedy called Lipstick Jungle, based on the follow-up book by Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell. It's a little different than Sex. It's about three successful women in New York City.
NBC's also ordered a pilot from the creator and writer of House. This one's an ensemble dramedy centered on a female cop.

I must be the only woman in America who has never understood what the big deal was about "Sex and the City." I cheered when the last episode finally aired, just because it meant I no longer had to listen to all the hype.

"My Boys", which was surprisingly good and which just finished its first season on TBS also obviously owes a lot to SATC. The key difference being that the lead character, a girl, mostly hangs out with a group of guys. Catch it in reruns if you missed it. Very well written and funny show.
