A Black day for fake news shows

grierdummy.jpgThe Fox News Channel has ordered up 13 episodes of its right wing answer to Comedy Central's The Daily Show, after pulling in close to a million and a half viewers on two tryouts. The Half Hour News Hour was most notable for not mentioning President Bush or Iraq in a combined hour of political satire.

But the next rip-off of Comedy Central's take-off on Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update segment may be a bit more critical.

David Alan Grier, one of the alums of In Living Color who'd sign up for a reunion show, is preparing a pilot presentation of another fake news series for Comedy Central.

This one's called Chocolate News.

Yes, Chocolate News would center on African American news of the day.(Back in the 80s,WNEW-TV in New York City-- "It's 10 O'Clock. Do you know where your children are?"-- ran a news show called Black News. It was serious.)

Grier would be executive producer and fake news anchorman. He's now rounding up writers, performers and fake reporters.

Hmm... do we see a Gay News or God News in the future? (Hey, we called them first! )

This could either be really funny or really bad. There's no middle ground with this one.

I'm talking about the black news show.
