Janeane Garofalo, who once got the roles now going to Mary Lynn Rajskub, is headed back to prime time with a new CBS drama, but this time, she won't be a sarcastic, sardonic, quirky, sassy supporting character.

The little comedienne, a voice on Comedy Central's Freak Show, will live up to the liberal cred she enhanced using her voice as an angry, propaganda-spewing-- and not very funny-- chatterbox on the Air America radio network (you won't see Janeane getting smooched by Rush Limbaugh), playing the head of a public defender's office. Her character "bears the scars of having made it in what is essentially a man's world"-- which sounds a little like her stint on Air America.
The series doesn't have a title yet, but think of it as CBS' flipside of Shark, in which loud Hollywood conservative actor James Woods plays a lawyer who leaves a lucrative criminal defense career for the role of prosecutor. And as with Shark, for those who prefer their Garofalo in small doses, the series will also follow the lives, relationships, cases and careers of her public defender team.
The pilot script is an oldie. It's an update of the dusty Law Dogs, a 2003 NBC pilot from Barry Schindel, who's had a pretty solid writer-producer track record since then, moving from Law & Order to Robbery Homicide Division to Numb3rs. Executive producers are the Scott Free team behind Numb3rs: the Gladiator-True Romance brothers, Ridley & Tony Scott, and David W. (not that David Zucker) Zucker.

Yay! i really like her and have always wanted success for her. I hope it goes well, though most shows tend to get cancelled before we even get to see them, so who knows.
