Salma Hayek has made her mark as an actress, but it's as a behind-the-scenes television producer that she's really baring her originality.
Ugly Betty has done wonders for ABC, especially among young women, and it's really one-of-a-kind-- even though it's an Americanized copy of a Colombian soap opera called Yo Soy Betty La Fea.
But now, Salma's sold a new hour-long series for Fox. And this one is as orginal as they come-- a drama set in a medical school.
Well, there are really no new ideas, are there?
The series will follow the lives of students at an Ivy League medical school. It'll open on their first day on campus and unfold from there.
Salma's called in the experts on this one. Her co-executive producer is Joe Sachs, who has that same role on ER, where he's been the show's medical consultant since its debut in 1994. It just so happens that Sachs attended Stanford Medical School, which isn't in the Ivy League, but among the schools in the fantasy West Coast version.
The show's not titled yet. Some suggestions: House Professor, ER School, Gray's College, CSI: Class,Law & Order: Medical School, The Blue Shield....
Suggestions?
