RuPaul's Drag Race: TVGASM Interviews the Most Famous Drag Queen in the World

by Twunty McSlore

Ladies and gentleman, start your engines, RuPaul's Drag Race is here!

Rupaul's Drag Race (Helmet)-1

Next week, a fabulous new show that combines the glamour of America's Next Top Model, the talent of American Idol, and the design acumen of Project Runway will debut on the Logo Channel. RuPaul, along with his production staff at World of Wonder has narrowed down thousands of drag hopefuls down to a lucky nine contestants who are set to wow us with their gender illusionist skills and hopefully, no definitely, prima donna behaviour. I, for one, cannot wait. He is famous for his VH1 telivision show, his hit song "Supermodel," his duet with Elton John of "Don't Go Breking My Heart" and his movie roles in "The Brady Bunch," Too Wong Foo.." and "Starrbooty." The winner will receive $20,000 from Absolut Vodka, a spot on their upcoming "Real Fruit" tour, MAC cosmetics, a spread in Paper Mag and a shoot with greg Gorman for l.a. Eyeworks.

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing the most famous drag queen in the world and someone I am lucky to call a friend, the incomparable RuPaul. Let me first state for the record that he is one of the nicest people ever to put on a pair of nine inch heels and he walks better in them than I ever could dream of. He applies his make-up better, his wigs pack more punch than my real hair ever could and with the proper push-up bra, his boobs look bigger than mine. He is also intelligent and thoughtful with a quick wit and a kind heart. (and I am a world class suck-up) On to the Interview, shall we?

Merrin out, Audra in: Grey's spinoff coup

merrin.jpg audra.jpg

While axed Grey's Anatomy Isaiah Washington rants and raves his way into celebrity oblivion after his axing (after the jump), Grey's producers are in for more controversy with the sudden replacement of a key castmember in the anticipated Grey's fall spinoff.

ABC Studios confirmed today that four-time Tony winner Audra McDonald has been hired to replace Merrin Dungey as star Kate Walsh's best friend in the spinoff Private Practice-- even though Merrin was introduced to 21.2 million viewers in the very special Grey's episode that launched Practice.

Back in May, Merrin played Dr. Naomi Bennett, the new character who is influential enough to talk Kate's Dr. Addison Montgomery into moving to California to join a health cooperative where she works with her ex-husband, played by Taye Diggs, and colleagues Tim Daly, Amy Brenneman and Paul Adelstein.

Help name Christina Applegate's new series

christinaapplegate.jpg

Wow. Maybe Chuck Berry did threaten to sue, after all.

Christina Applegate's new show on ABC is months away from a debut, and it's onto its third title. The show about an amnesiac was originally called Sam I Am (her character's name is Sam)-- until lawyers for the Dr. Seuss estate rattled the sabre claiming they ripped off the well-known line from Green Eggs & Ham, leading the network to switch to Samantha Be Good (her character was supposedly rotten before she lost her memory in a car crash and now she's trying to be a better person).

That was last week. We suggested that the composer of Johnny B. Goode might see cash potential after ABC rolled over for the Grinch crowd as quickly and enthusiastically as Kelly Bundy.

And sure enough, this week, Christina's show has another new name:

Girls! Girls! Girls!

badgirls.jpg

The Oxygen network has two new series and new installment of another set for the summer. Interesting that the former "network for women" keeps the emphasis on girls-- in shows that all have hooks for the guys (meaning there's not a Tori Spelling in the bunch).

Bad Girls, Fight Girls and Slave Girls.

You do the math:
