No, it wouldn't. On Runway, Tim is the man! As mentor to the designing contestants, he's the father figure, mother hen, big brother and sob sister all rolled into one, and now there's a lot of scrambling behind Bravo's hit reality contest series because its indisputable star has still not been signed for the fourth season.
Judges Nina Garcia and Michael Kors are locked in for Season Four. Heidi Klum is judge and executive producer, so she'll be there even if she's pregnant again.
But not Tim. And apparently money is not the issue. Not the only issue.
It looks to be a scheduling conflict.
Tim is chairman of the fashion design department at Parsons The New School for Design, where Runway is taped-- but he's not available to work on the series during the school year.
Season Three of Runway began filming last spring, after the semester ended. The final episodes were still being taped after the season went to air. It's unclear what the network's plan is for the fourth season.
Money's got to be a factor as well. Tim's been at Parsons for more than 22 years. When he was recently asked about the show's next season, Tim said that Parsons "pays my bills"-- insinuating that Runway did not.
Tomorrow's Entertainment Weekly reports that producers insist they'll find a way to work around his schedule. Yes, they promise to "make it work."
(Fun Fact: Loveable Tim is single, and has been for almost 25 years. He told Out magazine why: "I have never, ever been more hurt than from a relationship that goes back to Washington, D.C.--before New York. I'm welling up thinking about how horrible it all was. After many years, it was the advent of AIDS and knowing that this guy who I loved more than myself had been sleeping around... it was awful. More awful was his out and out rejection of me, saying, 'I don't have the patience for you. I'm tired of you. Get lost.' And I haven't been in a relationship since." Awww.)

They simply have to have Tim Gunn for the next season. It's not Project Runway without him.

I agree -- I would rather see Nina or Michael Kors gone (I hope Michael wears some other outfit next year besides the black blazer and t-shirt). What I love about Tim is that he's both tough and compassionate with the designers.

Tim plays such a pivotal role on the show, having him on is crucial---surely the producers know that? i hope? that quote was a little sad, sound like he's really been hurt! (25 YEARS?! yowzah!)

Without Tim, the show is pretty bland. He has the regal/catty mix down, esp. when a designer makes crap.... who else could cut a designer off with a curt "Make it work!" and show knowing disapproval all at once? Tim, LOVE YA, come back, come back!

I can say I doubt I will watch without him. I can understand his schedule constraints, the producers just have to "Make it Work"

It's nice to know that even the most put-together people have baggage, too. Although 25 years... it's a long time to mourn the loss of a crappy lover.
